(Copenhagen).- The opening day of the 4th annual Scandinavian Gaming Show, taking place in Copenhagen, Denmark, started off with attendees and speakers networking over refreshments during the registration process before Chairperson Jan Feuerhake, Salary Partner at Taylor Wessing, delivered his opening remarks to kick off this much-anticipated event!

Scandinavian Gaming Show 2022 - Day One Recap

Birgitte Sand, CEO, of Birgitte Sand & Associates and Board Member at Mindway AI, explored the potential that AI has to help operators to reduce at risk and problem gaming in her keynote address before the day’s first panel discussion. Morten Ronde, Managing Partner & CEO of Nordic Gambling & Danish Online Gambling Association, moderated a discussion that asked the question: Is overregulation killing the industry, how do the regulators support the growth of licensed operators and how do operators maximise growth whilst tackling new regulations?

After a networking tea break, the next panel discussion, moderated by Carl Fredrik Stenstrøm, Secretary General of the Norwegian Trade Association, explored channelisation - What is required to keep unlicensed companies out of the markets? Examining how regulators, operators, affiliates and suppliers can support each other. This discussion highlighted one of the many key topics for day one.

Trevor De Giorgio, Head of Regulatory Compliance for Play'n GO, commented: "Some of the best industry experts providing valuable insights into a multitude of subjects - especially on Regulation and channelisation.”

How to work with Scandinavian marketing rules - Analysing the pros and cons of stricter gaming advertising, was another panel discussion, this time moderated by Birgitte Sand.

The day’s sole presentation and two further panel discussions took place after lunch where attendees and participants were able to resume their networking and general good-spirited chatting.

Dr. Ekaterina Hartmann, Director of Legal and Regulatory Affairs at the European Gaming and Betting Association (EGBA), spoke about the future of AML for the gambling sector: EU re-regulation and industry self-regulation during her presentation.

The first of the final two panel discussions, moderated by Josh Steinlechner, Sales Team Lead for Bazoom Group, explored how to sustain the longevity of your brand in the gaming sector, before Johann G. Sigurdsson, CCO at BW Loto, moderated the talk that debated what the next growth products are, as well as emerging trends and innovations in products and technology within the Scandinavian markets.

Chairperson Jan Feuerhake ended off the day’s official proceedings with his closing remarks and added: “It is great to be discussing important regulatory issues again in person. In the relevant markets in Scandinavia, BeNeLux and Germany there have been so many changes in the past years. It is important to have an open dialogue again in person.”

Attendees and participants then moved on to post-event drinks that celebrated and solidified the relationships established and knowledge gained from an outstanding opening day of SGS 2022!
